With his old black-rimmed specs, wonky teeth and floppy ginger-tinge locks, he's been likened to Sloth from The Goonies on Twitter and comedian Frankie Boyle cruelly described him as looking like ‘someone put a sheep's teeth into a baby's head.'

But who cares what you look like when you've got a voice like that?

So why bother with the ‘mansformation', James?

Since winning The X Factor, he's revealed he's getting his teeth done.

James says: 'I'm probably going to get my teeth fixed. It's not a vanity thing, I've just always wanted to do it. I'm a singer and I open my mouth pretty wide. I'd like to have some nice pearly whites in there instead of the teeth I've got now. But everyone's got their hang-ups haven't they?'

And he's going on a diet too!

The 24-year-old singer from Middlesborough rocked his geek-chic look when he first auditioned for the show.

And when The X Factor style team attempted to ‘sex him up' for the live shows and removed his specs, James insisted he wasn't bothered and told me: ‘I don't care what I look like.'

Could have fooled me! Will he start plucking his eyebrows, having spray tans and having highlights next?
